The collection is a reflection on the topic of water rise in Nantes. Through these images, we try to imagine nut just a new reality (Nantes under water) but also the road to and through such a massive event-crisis. We will be looking at 3 distinct stages.

chapter 1 / the catastrophe
The water rise comes as a shock. The cataclysm strikes suddenly. No time was given to prepare. The environment that we inhabit is changed drastically and suddenly. The world we know is no more.
First reaction is loss, shock etc…
chapter 2 / adaptation
After some time the wave of shock slowly resides and an instinct to [survive] drives us to adapt to the new reality. We start using everything we have available, self-made structures, appropriations, new habitats, halfway between what was conventional to us and what we have to invent in order to deal with the new urban condition.
Slowly, we approach the water and find ways to reformulate our habitats and social structures.
Nature adapts too…
chapter 3 / overcoming
Finally, we are able to fully embrace the new urban state. The water is a part of our urban and social thinking.
It is no longer a cataclysm, but a new urban state.
Rom a city of streets, Nantes becomes a city of canals and lakes.As if water was there always...
